Dr. Jill Broadbent is now providing emergency services to all pets and families in need. She recently finished a rigorous small animal rotating internship at the University of Minnesota, where she trained under several boarded specialists. Dr. Broadbent graduated from Washington State University as part of the Phi Zeta honor society. It was during her years at WSU and UMN with fantastic mentorship that she fell in love with emergency and critical care medicine. She enjoys the combination of the fast pace variety of ER and challenge of meticulous patient care.

Growing up with more dogs than people at the base of the Wasatch mountains in Utah, Dr. Broadbent’s roots explain her passionate devotion to animals and the great outdoors. When she is out of the clinic, you will likely find her hiking with her three beloved dogs, Zen, Taz, and Evee, or galloping through the fields on her horse, Pellegrino. Dr. Broadbent also loves climbing, skiing, rock hounding, and silver-smithing with her partner, Ari. She is very happy to be back in the West and is loving exploring the surrounding wilderness.

Dr. Casey Drummond always had a lifelong love of animals, but it wasn’t until her senior year at the University of Montana while working as an ‘off-leash dog hiker’ that she began to consider a career as a veterinarian. Following completion of her degree in English Literature, Dr. Drummond re-enrolled in the pre-veterinary curriculum while working as a veterinary technician at a small animal emergency clinic. During the next several years Dr. Drummond explored her professional interests by working as a volunteer for the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska, as a summer dog handler for a competitive mushing kennel in Montana, as a field technician for various wildlife research projects, and as an animal trainer for an animal casting agency.

Dr. Drummond began veterinary school with an interest in the wildlife sector but by her senior year it was apparent emergency medicine was where her skillset and interests were most at home. She also developed an interest in non-traditional medicine which resulted in traveling to China and Florida to acquire her certification in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute.

Upon graduation from Washington State University, Dr. Drummond worked as an overnight ER/ICU doctor at a busy 24-hour specialty practice in Western Washington where she was exposed to a large and diverse caseload. Looking for a change of scenery and some more sunshine, she was encouraged by her good friend and classmate, Dr. Broadbent, to come give Bend a visit. The ideal locale and the amazing group of veterinary professionals made VRCCO a perfect fit and Dr. Drummond couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of the team. When not working, Dr. Drummond enjoys reading, painting, swimming, and spending time outdoors with her two rescued shepherds, Santiago and Japhy.
