Bend canine hip replacement surgery

Harley is running the trails again

“The constant communication with the VRC staff before, during, and after the procedure helped ease  worries and reminded me that Harley was in the hands of professionals. “

+ Harley's Story

I was referred to VRC by my primary vet who mentioned they were one of the few places in Bend that could handle a total hip replacement surgery. Moving forward with VRC was an easy decision for me. After meeting with Dr. Dujo and his staff, it was clear that they were going to do everything within their ability to get my dog, Harley, back to 100%. They were patient with my endless questions, thorough in their examination, and clearly articulated the pros and cons of each of my options. The biggest factor, however, was the fact that they are just genuinely good people and I felt comfortable leaving Harley in their caring hands. From the first moment I stepped in the front door, I was greeted with smiles. The constant communication with the VRC staff before, during, and after the procedure helped ease worries and reminded me that Harley was in the hands of professionals. My experience could not have been more positive and I highly recommend VRC to everyone in Bend.

Molly gets her groove back

“The doctors, technicians, and entire staff are gifted and unique healers of animals. We cannot thank them enough for the love and care they have provided to our family.”

+ Molly's Story

Molly was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year. Without hesitation, her primary care veterinarian quickly jumped in and helped us build a plan of action, and proactively consulted and connected us with the Veterinary Referral Center. VRC immediately jumped in, thoroughly assessed the situation, and took action. The doctors and staff leveraged their extensive network of specialists, operated with a sense of urgency and made Molly’s care a top priority. While the initial prognosis was not good, Molly has not only outlived what we thought possible, she is continuing to live a happy life, thanks to the care of the staff at VRC.

Throughout this journey of treating Molly’s cancer, VRC continues to provide unwavering gestures of genuine compassion, love, and care for the welfare of Molly and us. Today, Molly is living a vibrant life, despite having cancer. While we don’t know how long she will be with us, VRC will continue to be Molly’s primary and trusted clinic. The doctors, technicians, and entire staff are gifted, and unique healers of animals and a community with whom we can not thank them enough for love and care they have provided to our family. We HIGHLY recommend VRC to anyone who genuinely loves and wants what’s best for the care of their pets.

Life savers for ElleighMae & MogeyBear

“We will never go elsewhere! Finally specialists in Bend to treat our valued family members.”

+ ElleighMae's Story

Our 2-year-old doodle ElleighMae had suffered from chronic pain and UTI’s since she was a puppy. Within minutes at VRC she was diagnosed by Dr. Vaughn with a genetic disorder referred to as Hypoplastic Vulva. Since her surgery, which relieved the pain, she has been a different dog!

A month or so later, our 13-year-old MogeyBear arrived home from his groomer severely dehydrated. He ran through the house in a literal panic consuming every one of the water bowls in the house, then begged for more. He suddenly seemed very ill and… then completely unresponsive. We immediately called VRC directly not knowing what was wrong and having never seen him like this in 13 years! It was roughly 7pm and we raced him over to be examined, at their urging, by Dr. Dujowich. Apparently, time was of the essence as he was diagnosed with Gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV) and would have died if he had not had surgery immediately!

We are grateful to the doctors and incredible staff of VRC for not only saving our dogs’ lives, but treating each of our family members with love and kindness. We are so happy to finally have a specialist vet in Bend, not to mention the fact they are now open in the evening for emergencies. Thank goodness!

Hobart’s new lease on life

Very grateful for the great people at VRC.

When my regular vet could not diagnose Hobart, she referred us to VRC. Dr. Vaughan quickly and accurately diagnosed Hobart’s auto-immune disease and provided the course of therapy which led to his recovery. Additionally, Dr. Bentley saved the day with her diagnosis of a skin condition related to his auto-immune disease. On another occasion, the emergency team quickly patched up my boy when he was bitten by another dog at the dog park. It has been an eventful year and I am very grateful for the great people at VRC.

Cleo gets her 10th life

“We love the staff at VRCCO! “

+ Cleo's Story

We started out bringing Cleo in for monitoring and chemo weekly. Initially she didn’t respond well and I took her home to die. Suddenly, she rebounded and now we are in a cycle of chemo every 3 weeks. We’ve been to the brink of death with her, but now she is an active, aggressive, loving kitty that owns our other animals, as only a cat can.
