Dr. Violet Katherine Rettmer

Dr. Violet Katherine Rettmer is originally from Kansas City. She earned both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Kansas State University. Following graduation, she completed a rotating internship at Mississippi State University, then pursued two surgical specialty internships—one at MSPCA-Angell in Boston and another at the University of Illinois. She is currently working with VRCCO completing a surgical residency.

Dr. Rettmer’s professional interests include advanced orthopedic procedures, particularly total hip replacements. She is also passionate about expanding surgical techniques and research for exotic and small companion animals.

Outside of work, Dr. Rettmer enjoys exploring the outdoors with her dog and best friend, Moose. Together, they spend their free time hiking, birdwatching, and discovering the best sticks nature has to offer.
